Whetley Medical Centre Heating Upgrade

Watsons Building Services was entrusted with a project to design and install a replacement heating system as part of a refurbishment for the Whetley Medical Centre in Bradford. The medical centre comprises clinical and administration spaces across two stories. The project was strategically executed in phases to minimise disruptions during the winter months, ensuring the continued operation of the centre.

The centre's two existing air-to-water air source heat pumps (ASHP) and associated plants were utilised and reused. The existing distribution pipework and heat emitters were stripped out and replaced with new pipework and radiators sized with a flow temperature of 55°C ensuring the building could be adequately heated by the low temperature ASHPs.
