Phased M&E Upgrades at a Medical Centre in Bradford

Watsons Building Services continues to work in close partnership with the local health authority to deliver a phased installation and upgrade of mechanical and electrical services at a busy medical centre in Bradford.

Maintaining uninterrupted healthcare provision has been central to the project strategy. Careful sequencing of works, combined with close coordination with centre managers and clinical staff, has ensured that all services remain fully operational throughout each phase. Where required, works have been undertaken out of hours to further minimise disruption.

As part of the wider programme, the existing fire alarm system has been upgraded to enhance life safety compliance. In parallel, building maintenance facilities have been reconfigured to support the staged construction approach, allowing continuous occupation of the building during refurbishment works.

Mechanical works have now commenced on the first-floor remodelling project. This phase includes the installation of new Low Temperature Hot Water (LTHW) heating submains to serve refurbished clinical and office areas, along with new domestic hot and cold water services. Above-ground drainage systems are also being installed to accommodate new kitchenette and WC facilities.

All works have been carefully integrated with ongoing building and fit-out activities, ensuring programme efficiency while protecting patient safety and day-to-day operational resilience.
