Turnkey Boiler Plant Replacement for a Dental Practice in Halifax
Watsons Building Services were appointed by the client to deliver a turnkey solution for the replacement of an aged and inefficient boiler plant and controls system. The project aimed to improve energy performance, ensure compliance with current gas safety regulations, and enhance overall system reliability.
Following a detailed site assessment, the existing boiler plant was fully decommissioned and removed, allowing the Watsons team to prepare the boiler room for installation of a modern, high-efficiency heating solution.
The new system comprised rig-mounted, gas-fired condensing boilers, designed to deliver reliable and efficient low-temperature hot water (LTHW) heating to the building. These were integrated with a plate heat exchanger, pressurisation units, and a combined filter unit, all operating under the manufacturer’s control system to ensure optimal performance and ease of management.
To meet current compliance standards, a new gas safety system was installed, providing enhanced monitoring and emergency control capabilities.
Electrical works included the provision of mains power, control wiring, and new plantroom lighting, ensuring a safe and compliant installation. Upon completion, fire stopping was carried out professionally in all required areas to maintain compartmentation integrity.
Before commissioning, the existing heating system was thoroughly flushed and dosed with inhibitor to protect against corrosion and maintain long-term system health. The plant was then commissioned, tested, and balanced, ensuring optimal operational efficiency.
