Integrated Building Services for a BREEAM 'Excellent' Project
Watsons Building Services recently completed the design and installation of a comprehensive mechanical and electrical services package for a new-build facility for an established builders' merchant in Skipton, North Yorkshire.
Appointed to deliver the M&E services design and installation, we provided a fully integrated solution including HVAC systems, domestic hot and cold water services, drainage, sanitaryware and a Building Management System (BMS). The project was designed to achieve a BREEAM 'Excellent' rating, placing sustainability, energy efficiency and long-term building performance at the heart of the development.
The installation required careful planning and technical coordination, particularly following the removal of a suspended ceiling, which necessitated revisions to the routing and integration of building services. Working closely with the wider project team, our engineers successfully coordinated the installation while maintaining programme deadlines and quality standards.
What is BREEAM?
BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) is the UK's leading sustainability assessment for buildings. It measures performance across areas including energy, water, materials, waste and occupant wellbeing. An 'Excellent' rating signifies environmental performance that significantly exceeds standard industry practice.
