New Heating and Cooling System for an Historic Community Hall in Keighley
Watsons Building Services designed, installed and commissioned a full turnkey heating and cooling service at a community hall in Keighley, as part of a wider refurbishment project. The challenge was to provide an energy-efficient solution in a large hall whilst retaining its original character, which dates back to the 1800s.
The installation required careful planning for the refrigerant pipework and fixings, and nonstandard construction methods due to the size of the space, the historic nature of the building and the thick, solid walls it was built with.
We designed a discreet heating and cooling solution, utilising the ceiling void space, and located the condenser units externally to avoid any surface-mounted bracketry or trunking that would affect the hall’s appearance.
The solution involved two Twin-Split Cassette air conditioning systems, controlled via a central controller. The comfort AC system featured a 360° blow function for enhanced air distribution. We also designed and installed the pipework and electrical wiring for the system.
The result was a cost-effective and energy-efficient heating and cooling system with central controls that retained the hall’s historic character and avoided disruption to the fabric of the building.
